 An abstract of the talk:

_Massive stars are cosmic factories in which most of the chemical elements that make life on Earth possible are produced. And yet we still have many open questions about their life cycle. One of the most important open questions arises from recent observations: A majority of massive stars are not alone - they live in double- or multiple-star systems, which drastically impacts their lives. In such multiple systems, stars can interact, exchange material, and in the extreme cases, even merge to become one star. In my lecture, I will provide an overview of how we observe such systems and what we currently know about their occurrence and properties. I will further explain how they can interact, and show some of the most extreme systems that are the outcome of such interactions._
